A DEPARMENT store which has traded in the centre of a Northumberland town for more than 150 years has plans to expand by a third.
Rutherfords of Morpeth has applied for planning permission to Northumberland County Council to extend its store to create an extra 8,000sq metres of floor space. But the upmarket store, which opened on the town's Bridge Street in 1846, said it will wait until the economy improves before moving ahead with the project which it says will lead to the creation of 10 jobs.See the full content of this document
