Niall Quinn is hoping he has taken charge of his last game as Sunderland boss after admitting he is confident he will appoint a "world class manager" by the time the Wearsiders return to action next week.

The Black Cats lost their fifth successive game under the beleaguered Irishman's charge at Gigg Lane last night. And with their Carling Cup participation ended by a Bury team rooted to the foot of the League Two table, Quinn revealed his intention to vacate the post as quickly as possible.
