Summary


Whitley Warriors finally picked up the win their recent play has deserved when they overwhelmed a Blackburn side chasing a place in the English Cup final.

There was little to separate the two teams in the opening 30 minutes on Saturday although home fans were incensed at the penalty shot award in the closing moments of the first period which saw Bobby Haig level the game at 3-3. But once Ben Campbell struck at the mid-point to put Whitley 6-4 in front there was only going to be one winner.
