Summary
Rugby union: South Africa coach Jake White will remain with the Springboks squad for the Tri-Nations series despite threatening to quit for a position in England with the RFU. White, who earlier this week pushed for a two-year extension to his contract and warned SA Rugby that he had applied for a position at the RFU, met yesterday with SA Rugby president Oregan Hoskins and chairman Mpumelelo Tshume to discuss his future. His current deal expires after next year's World Cup but his request for an extension until after the British and Irish Lions tour in 2009 has been turned down and he has been linked with the RFU's new director of elite rugby role. The Springboks squad meet on Monday ahead of two Tests against Australia and one against New Zealand on their five-week trip.
