Pubs and leisure group Whitbread yesterday confirmed it had conditionally agreed to sell its David Lloyd gym business for pounds 925m.

Luton-based Whitbread is selling the business, which has outlets in South Gosforth, Newcastle, and Thornaby, Stockton, to Versailles Bidco, the bid vehicle of private property company London & Regional and Bank of Scotland.
