HOPES of fun in the sun were washed out this weekend as torrential downpours soaked the region. Forecasters yesterday warned more unsettled weather is its on its way, with the North East set to bear the brunt of the wet and windy conditions. Severe weather warnings were issued yesterday for heavy showers that could bring up to 4cm of rain in places. Seasonal businesses, reliant on fairer weather to bring in revenues, said they had been hit by the wash- out and bemoaned forecasts of worse to come.
