Summary
NOW our top beauty spots are facing a cut in Government grants of up to 30% and Northumberland National Park is closing two of three visitor centres, is it not time for those of us who use these natural resources to stand up and be counted? I do not mean holding protest marches, lobbying our MPs or asking others to pay for our enjoyment. What I propose is that all who use these areas should have to pay a licence fee to be able to walk the fells, ride mountain bike trails and generally enjoy the outdoors.
This funding would then be used to repair the paths and facilities that support thousands of outdoor pursuit devotees every year.See the full content of this document
