AS a town planner it's rare to see your favourite subject make the front page. However, the Government's new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) has stirred up a hornet's nest of high- profile opposition, led by the Daily Telegraph and the National Trust. For those who thought this was only a southern "nimby" issue, even The Journal recently reported fears over urban sprawl in Northumberland. This followed on from last week's publication of the Draft Newcastle/Gateshead Core Strategy.
