A WOMAN who sparked a major maritime rescue operation by claiming she was going to walk into the sea on the Northumberland coastline was eventually found safe and well outside a village pub.

Three lifeboats were launched to carry out a search after the distressed 45-year-old from Blyth telephoned police at about 8.15pm on Thursday and threatened to throw herself into the sea.
