BRITISH Transport Police have confirmed detectives are investigating a train ticket fraud operation worth pounds 140,000.

The Journal revealed that detectives had launched a probe earlier this year into customer service staff at the Government-backed operator East Coast. It came after an audit revealed a shortfall of complimentary passes, guarded by workers at Newcastle's Baron House offices.
