I READ with bemusement Mr JE Tate's letter regarding the "cultural begging bowl" that he claims Newcastle's Theatre Royal "simply struts out" (The Journal, July 18).
Mr Tate clearly lives in ignorance and has not looked at the Theatre Royal's programme before damning it. I am puzzled that he would regard High School Musical, Evita, Abba, Porridge, Take That's Never Forget, South Pacific, Jolson and Co, Robinson Crusoe, Cinderella and so on as culturally elitist.See the full content of this document
