Prosecutors are to meet with senior police within days to decide whether charges of treason can be brought against Islamist extremists who have voiced support for terror in the wake of the London bombings, it was confirmed yesterday.

Attorney General Lord Goldsmith and Director of Public Prosecutions Ken Macdonald yesterday discussed possible action that could be taken against three prominent clerics who have appeared on TV in recent days.
