People in the North-East are being urged to vote for the Angel of the North as England's finest icon in a pounds 1m project aimed at finding the most famous example of English heritage.
Gateshead's Angel has already been shortlisted in the competition and faces competition from the FA Cup, Stonehenge, the Routemaster double decker bus and a good cup of English tea.
