Ihave read a lot lately about "bringing the Lindisfarne Gospels back home to Sunderland" on loan or three months. Back "home" to Sunderland? What a joke. Sunderland has never been the home of the Gospels.

They come from Lindisfarne and were lodged for centuries in the City of Durham until people supposedly acting on the authority of Henry VIII nicked them.
