Some interesting statistics crossed my desk this week courtesy of ippr, the centre-left think tank.

One of their recent publications entitled A new regional policy for the UK, takes a comparative look, amongst other things, at innovation across the nations and regions of the UK. Two sets of statistics are used to do this. First, the UK's regional R&D spend. And second, the numbers of firms reporting innovative activity.
