Summary
Designed by Newcastle architect John Dobson, Morpeth Courthouse was built as a combined county jail and court complex at a cost of pounds 80,000 between 1822 and 1828.
Offenders convicted of serious crimes were hanged there and the interior of the jail was divided into sections for different categories of prisoners, including common and master debtors.See the full content of this document
