THOUSANDS of companies nationally have benefited from knowledge transfer partnerships (KTPs) and their predecessor the Teaching Company Scheme, with a long track record and wealth of expertise this initiative helps businesses develop new ways of working to underpin their improved competitiveness.

Durham University has participated in these initiatives since 1980 and Durham Business School is one of many academic departments taking an active role in engaging with the regional community in this way. Knowledge transfer partnerships bring together a company partner, a knowledge-base partner (eg a university) and a high- calibre graduate who will fulfil a challenging and exciting project, transferring the knowledge the company is seeking direct into the business.
