Sometimes it doesn't matter how good the product is, getting the message across to potential buyers is the key. Finding a hook is crucial and, in the case of Saab, the company's aircraft-building lineage is a good example and so, too, is keeping at the forefront of technology.

A perfect example of this is alternative fuel technology. Saab announced at the recent Geneva Motor Show that its BioPower flex- fuel technology will be added to the 9-3 range with launch of new 1.8t BioPower engine, making it the first car company in UK to offer an alternative-fuel engine in every model in its line-up.
