GREAT Britain lost their grip on the Rowing World Cup for the first time since 2007 - despite finishing as the leading nation at the Lucerne regatta.

Britain won four golds and a total of 10 medals and they also dominated the first World Cup regatta of the three-event series in Munich. But the decision to withdraw from racing in Hamburg due to fears over E.coli cost them any realistic chance of retaining the overall World Cup trophy, which was won by Germany with 177 points.
