Speedy Subsidy Cheques Pledge After Bad Harvest

Summary


Government officials yesterday promised to send North-East arable farmers their subsidy cheques as soon as the payment window opens to help them cope with the bad harvest.

During a visit to the region to witness at first hand the damage done to this year's harvest by the wet August weather, officials from Defra said that every effort would be made to get subsidy cheques out to the region's crop producers on the day the payment scheme opens, November 16.
