In the 17 years since Sikander "Sid" Hyat set up his corner shop on Warwick Street, Heaton, Newcastle, he has given very little away about himself.

Although happy to be seen as a "bit of an agony uncle" to the many regulars who frequent his long-established establishment, Sid admits his own story has remained somewhat of a closed book ( a fact which has led to a number of fanciful anecdotes and rumours circulating throughout the eclectic community in which Sid's shop resides.
