The boss of a Tyneside shipyard was yesterday accused of "mismanaging" a contract to build two transport ships after the Government was forced to admit cost overruns had increased by another pounds 73m.

Almost one year after Swan Hunter was thrown an pounds 84m lifeline by taxpayers, the Wallsend yard was suffering yet another crisis ( with cost pressures resulting in the Government investing an extra pounds 73m.
