WHILE many brave people in Iran are demonstrating and, indeed, dying for nothing more than the right to have a say in their own governance, the ayatollahs in County Hall, Durham, have their own grubby method of stifling public opinion. No Republican Guard for them.
The shameful and underhand way they have given the residents of Belmont and Gilesgate Moor and others such a short period of time to respond to their preferred site for an academy at the Belmont Community Centre and associated sports fields is nothing short of insulting. I understand that Belmont parish council was only informed of the choice on Monday, June 22, with me and other local resident having to rely on the local press on Tuesday for our information, with a deadline for any response of July 3.See the full content of this document
