DOZENS of Northumberland lifeboat crew members who made the ultimate sacrifice while trying to save others at sea are to be honoured on the RNLI's first national memorial.

The pounds 150,000 memorial sculpture - located next to the RNLI headquarters in Poole, Dorset - will be unveiled in the autumn and is dedicated to the 600 brave volunteers who lost their lives during maritime rescues and incidents.
