Retailer Hit by Ice and Snow

THE bad weather cost department store giant the John Lewis Partnership almost pounds 5m when it disrupted the biggest trading day of the year.

The group said that sales hit pounds 120.3m in the week to Saturday, December 18, slightly down on the previous week's pounds 121.03m record figure but still 7% ahead for the same week last year at its 32 branches.
