POLICE forces across the North East have come together to launch a campaign raising the awareness of the danger of rape in the run- up to the festive period.

The six-week campaign - called Short Word, Long Sentence - is a joint initiative between Northumbria, Durham and Cleveland police forces and aims to remind both men and women that rape can ruin lives for victims and offenders.
