Summary
THE Stockton Fringe cuts it once again with a music line-up including The Proclaimers and The Futureheads. It might have started off as a small scale get-together in a local pub 19 years ago, but Stockton Riverside Fringe Festival is now an annual crowd-puller with some of the best headline acts around. Since those early meetings of disparate indie bands - which gave rise to a hastily- arranged all-day gig, as a reaction to its older sibling Stockton International Riverside Festival - the Fringe showcases a mix of big names and local talent. Both festivals have action-packed programmes running until Sunday.
The free Stockton Fringe sees The Charlatans take to the main stage today, followed by Supergrass and, on Sunday, by The Proclaimers. Other acts include local bands The Chapman Family, today, and The Futureheads tomorrow, plus Anvil Springstein, Kathryn Williams, and The Wildcats of Kilkenny.See the full content of this document
