THE Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority should be held responsible for the debacle over the allocation of a single additional train for the Tyne and Wear area (The Journal, July 25).
Not only does this single train not meet even current demand the class 142 Pacer trains, which were built in 1985, also have many safety and environmental concerns that seem to have been ignored over years in an attempt to provide private train companies with lightweight rolling stock to keep their overheads low and to maximise profits.See the full content of this document
