Pm Promises School Will Be Considered

Summary

PRIME Minister David Cameron has promised a Northumberland school will get "fair consideration" for funding to rebuild its crumbling facilities. Mr Cameron made the pledge to the Duchess's High School in Alnwick after being challenged by Berwick MP Sir Alan Beith during Prime Minister's Questions in the Commons yesterday.

Sir Alan said: "Is the Prime Minister aware that the split-site buildings of the Duchess's High School in Alnwick are in a far worse state than many of the schools included in Labour's Building Schools for the Future programme, but the school was always excluded from that programme?" The senior Liberal Democrat MP added: "Will he make sure that it gets fair consideration under a much more focused and better managed scheme of school buildings? The Prime Minister said: "I can give that assurance - that we are going to have a new scheme and there will be pounds 15bn of schools capital spending in the programme going forward.
