Firms might be more willing to carry out equal pay audits if they were allowed to phase in any changes to their wage systems to make sure women were not being discriminated against, Rita Donaghy, Acas chairwoman, said yesterday adding that the potential cost of changing wage rates was one of the reasons holding back equal pay.
"If the law were to be changed to allow organisations to phase in equal pay over a period of time many employers may be more willing to look at equal pay issues, knowing they had time to sort out the company's finances," she said.See the full content of this document
