British Airways has admitted that it carried 3.9% fewer passengers in the month when its operations at Heathrow were paralysed by wildcat strikes.

The airline said it handled 3.1 million people in August when its planes were grounded at Heathrow after baggage handlers walked out following job cuts at the airline's caterer.
