IT is only 11 years ago the North East and Cumbria had nobody on the European Tour, but today Walker Cup man Chris Paisley makes his professional debut as one of an unprecedented five players from the region in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.

"Incredible, fantastic" commented Doug McClelland, the first player from the area to play the tour, and to win on it, by capturing the 1973 Dutch Open in The Hague.
