THE National Farmers Union has called on the Government to ban imports of livestock from bluetongue affected areas of Northern Europe following the discovery of the disease in a consignment of cattle imported from the Netherlands to a farm near Worc ester.
The NFU claims the animals appear not to have been tested before leaving a bluetongue protection zone and Defra did not know of the consignment, with the result that the animals were not tested on entry to the UK.See the full content of this document
