I AM no geneticist, but Norman Bateman's description of the fox- hunting ban as "a regulation against nature by restricting the natural instincts of the canine species to hunt their natural quarry" surely took the (dog) biscuit (Voice of the North, October 23).

This must rank among the silliest of the many silly defences of hunting with dogs voiced so far.
