Summary


In the churchyard of St Cuthbert in Allendale is a monument to Isaac Holden.

Its inscription speaks of the "esteem and respect" in which he was held, with 600 people subscribing to the memorial. Isaac Holden was born in 1805 in the West Allen Valley, the son of a lead miner.
