Small Wars is set in 1950s Cyprus, when the island was still a crown colony and the British army faced an ill-fated independence campaign to unite the island with Greece.

Dashing officer Hal is transferred to Cyprus where he struggles to come to terms with atrocities and his marriage to patriotic Clara is strained to breaking point.
