Summary
THE takeover of Cadbury was a blow to the Northern region. The weekend press now reports that state-owned German transport group Deutsche Bahn is close to finalising the takeover of Sunderland- based Arriva, the United Kingdom's third largest transport company which operates in 12 countries and employs 44,000 people.
There is an irony that having privatised our bus services we now find a German state-owned company buying one of our privatised gems.
