THE Government has indicated it could bow to Merseyside pressure and let Liverpool bid to take cruise ships away from Tyneside.

Conservative MEP Martin Callanan has written to his party colleagues in the Department for Transport as ministers consider a proposal to lift restrictions on the number of cruises allowed in Liverpool, put in place to ensure its pounds 21m in state aid did not distort the market.
