CONTROVERSIAL plans for a new food store in a Northumberland town will be approved following a U-turn by council officers, The Journal understands.

Silvercoin Investments and Box 22 Ltd's proposal for a shop at Wooler goes before a Northumberland County Council planning committee this week with a recommendation that it be given the go- ahead.
