THOUSANDS of people flocked to attractions across the region this Bank Holiday including world class athletics, a scarecrow show and a teddy bears' picnic. One of the biggest crowd pullers, despite the rain, was the Aviva British Grand Prix held at Gateshead International Stadium yesterday. The last event in the busy UK athletic calendar, the Grand Prix saw more than 30 medallists from the recently held IAAF World Championships competing in the North East. These included Jessica Ennis and fellow team mate Phillip Idowu who both snatched gold in the heptathlon and the triple jump respectively in the IAAF event.
While in Wallington Hall the bears were set loose for a teddy bears' picnic.See the full content of this document
