ROY Keane's comments about Sunderland perhaps not appealing to footballers - and in particular their Wags - found a mixed reaction in the city yesterday.

Angeey Rain, 24, a hair stylist at Ramsay & Johnson in Sunderland, believes "there is a stigma attached to the North- East". She says Sunderland may not compare to London and some others but "the city struggles because people are not willing to give it a chance". She says: "Football is not about sport any more, it's about celebrity, status and money."
