Summary
I WAS puzzled, at first, by Huw Lewis's letter claiming The Journal to be premature in suggesting that there might be a shortfall in Government funding for the concessionary bus travel scheme ("Speculation on free transport premature", Voice of the North, June 29).
After all, Tyne and Wear will have suffered a shortfall, by the time the national scheme is introduced, of over pounds 14m in funding since the scheme was introduced locally in April 2006. Even his own finance director acknowledged there may be problems.See the full content of this document
