DID you know that one in eight GP surgery patients is an unpaid carer? As a result of their caring responsibility as many as 80% say that they experience ill-health. The irony is that unpaid carers are saving the health service a massive pounds 57bn a year through caring at home, Yet who's looking after them?

Their GP, GP surgery and primary care trust is therefore crucial to their health and wellbeing and the Simplyhealth Caring Awards (in partnership with The Princess Royal Trust for Carers) are looking to celebrate all the good practice being done throughout the UK today to support unpaid carers. I'd like to draw your attention to the three Simplyhealth Caring Awards that looks to recognise all the fantastic work being carried out by individual GPs, GP surgeries and PCTs:
