When a friend said: "Come on, we're going to a Mongolian barbeque," all sorts of weird images crossed my mind (including cannibalism).

But it turned out it was a restaurant where you choose your own cooking ingredients and sauces from a selection laid out, and give them to a chef who cooks them on a hotplate before presenting them back to you in a bowl.
