Summary
Titus Bramble and Antoine Sibierski have joined Wigan Athletic from Newcastle United after their St James's Park contracts expired. Bramble, 25, has signed a three-year deal, while 32-year-old Sibierski's runs for two years. Bramble had been expected to sign for Portsmouth but decided to go to the JJB Stadium instead. "Three or four Premiership clubs wanted him, so for him to chose Wigan was a fantastic coup for us," said Latics manager Chris Hutchings. Bramble made over 100 appearances for United but his regular lapses in concentration prevented him fulfilling the potential shown at Portman Road. Frenchman Sibierski had an impressive first season at Newcastle after joining on a free transfer from Manchester City. He was haggling over a new contract and when Sam Allardyce was appointed Newcastle manager, the offer was withdrawn.
