The Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme is one of the most striking and poignant memorials of the First World War. It stands in the rolling Somme countryside as a commemoration to over 72,000 men who died in the Battle of the Somme and have no known grave.

The impact of the loss is even greater when you realise that more than 90% of these men died in a few short months from July 1 to November 30, 1916.
