In the High Court last week a barrister called it old-fashioned to believe parents are the best judges of their children's welfare and a leading lawyer insisted that the long-held belief that parents know what is best for their children has "had its day."
In fact, they argued, it's doubtful whether parents have any role to play in the important decision-making areas of their children's lives.
