THERE'S an old adage - don't do as I do, do as I say - which applies to Western leaders concerning their condemnation of Russia's actions regarding Georgia's breakaway states, South Ossetia and Abkhazia, in response to the attempted ethnic cleansing there by the ruthlessly ambitious Georgian president.

The same leaders who condemn Russia have made the people of Afghanistan and Iraq fed up to the teeth with the deteriorating standard of living in their respective countries and the mounting death toll. They have also endorsed the breakaway of Kosovo from Serbia, which hasn't been agreed by the United Nations.
