Plans to change sixth-form education in the area around Carlisle will be debated by MPs today.

Penrith and the Border MP David Maclean has called the adjournment debate in the House of Commons to examine plans by the Learning and Skills Council to close sixth forms at seven Carlisle schools and replace them with one sixth-form college.
