Georgina Harland (pictured left) produced a stunning run in the final event of the modern pentathlon to close a 49-second gap and seal a bronze medal for Great Britain which had seemed, almost all day, to be too far out of reach.

Entering the three-kilometre cross-country it was Harland's team- mate Kate Allenby who had seemed the more likely medal contender.
